In a city of 30 million opinions, former New York City Mayor Eric Adams doesn\u2019t have to listen to any of them in retirement. In response to being asked a week before leaving office whether he would miss being mayor, he said, \u201cI\u2019m good.\u201d In the six months since, he has been retired dadmaxxing \u2013 embracing the freedom of not having to be up with the men after being out with the boys. Here\u2019s what the former mayor has been up to since he left office.<\/p>\n

Travel<\/strong><\/p>\n

While we know the , the first stop for the former mayor was actually Dubai on his first day out of office. He has been to China, Ethiopia, Georgia and lots of other places \u2013 in addition to becoming an Albanian citizen for some reason. These jaunts could be seen as checking off his travel bucket list \u2013 if he hadn\u2019t already spent a good portion of his last few months in office overseas.<\/p>\n

Saying \u201cthat\u2019s not my problem\u201d to the old job<\/strong><\/p>\n

As he posted in January, \u201cReminder: I don\u2019t run City Hall anymore. Yelling at me on Twitter will not speed up snow removal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Woodworking<\/strong><\/p>\n

A classic dad hobby. In June, he posted that he was building a bookshelf with lumber from Home Depot. Hopefully his project didn\u2019t end up how some projects do where you spend $40 and a Saturday afternoon making a crooked bookshelf only to realize you could\u2019ve just bought one from Ikea for less.<\/p>\n

Go to the farmers market (in the Middle East)<\/strong><\/p>\n

All the retired dads now have time to hit up the local farmers market during the day.<\/p>\n

Complaining<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you suddenly have a lot of time on your hands, it\u2019s natural to sit around and complain. Some people are doing it professionally on the radio, while others take to social media. Adams has been complaining about the media, including Gothamist last week and Errol Louis in January. He took on the city budget, saying he warned about a shortfall, and implored the mayor to take up his homeless encampment policy in the wake of deaths to frigid cold temperatures. Plus, he got into it with a heckler at the airport.<\/p>\n

Hang out on a big couch talking sports with your (Fox &) Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing like discussing the Knicks championship win in what became his TV home during his final year in office.<\/p>\n

Dabble in new technology<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the self-described \u201ctech geek,\u201d one of his first post-mayoral ventures, the cryptocurrency NYC Token, crashed after allegations of a \u201crug pull,\u201d which Adams denied. He also has experimented with posting an AI video.<\/p>\n

Chilling<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adams said on New Year\u2019s Eve his retirement plan was to \u201chave a single malt scotch and smoke a cigar.\u201d He has also continued dining out at the city\u2019s fantastic restaurants and went to a Jay-Z concert at Yankee Stadium.<\/p>\n
