In the end, the final budget bills passed on the night of May 27 \u2013 just one day later, and nearly two months after the April 1 deadline.<\/p>\n<p>How did Wollman come so close? \u201cWell, May 26 is my birthday, so that was an easy one to just pick a date, and I knew it would be fairly late,\u201d Wollman told City &amp; State.<\/p>\n<p>It might not take decades of experience with municipal finance to predict that the state budget would be late yet again, but it doesn\u2019t hurt either. Wollman spent 46 years working for the New York City comptroller\u2019s office, beginning under Harrison Goldin in the 1970s and ending under Scott Stringer. He\u2019s now a special assistant to the chair of the Organization of Staff Analysts, a union representing municipal employees.<\/p>\n<p>Wollman said he followed this year\u2019s budget negotiations closely, though not \u201cmicroscopically,\u201d and was particularly surprised by the changes to Tier 6 pension reforms that changed the mandatory retirement age for cops. \u201cI\u2019m very pro-union,\u201d he said. \u201cAnything is good for working people and unionists, I support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/businessrelocationdigest.com\/?p=196\">It was a pretty good year for regulating AI in New York<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wollman visited the City &amp; State newsroom this week to collect his prize: a custom City &amp; State New York blanket.
